I'm Dr. Adam Sheck, and I'd like to welcome you to the "Men After Fifty" Community! Living for more than half a century on this planet is a rite of passage and I wanted to create a place where we can share our wisdom and experience to help each other and to help those who matter in our lives. As true for many "men after fifty", I've had a number of careers over my … [Read More...]

Thank you Adam!! Great post! I will share with the many MKP Facebook pages – and I will link it to the MKP Journal as well at http://mankindprojectjournal.org.

Boysen,
Thanks so much for your kind words, I look forward to being part of community.

I was at the ManKind Project NWTA (New Warrior Training Adventure) weekend as a Man of Service (MOS) helping in the kitchen preparing, serving, and cleaning up after meals and snacks. Only got to meet initiates on Sunday afternoon, and it was a joyful priviledge to see faces of our new brothers.
Richard,
Thanks so much for your contributions to the weekend and to my experience.
Adam
I was away for the past weekend but I hear it was a powerful one. Welcome to our c ommunity!
Thanks so much, Noe!

I found your blog throuh the MKP facebook fan page. I really like your account and being prt of MKP for 6 years now, I had never had the chance to read the opinion of a doctor on the training.
Reading your post helped to reinforce all the good I thought about MKP and also to put in words things I felt about the great context that such week end provide for self acceptance, healing and personal growth as a man.
Thank you
Max
Max,
Glad my post supported your experience, hope to learn more about you over time.

Adam — as part of the staff on your weekend training, it was my honor to witness the loving transformations you and your new brothers experienced during those brief hours we all were together.
Thank you for the enthusiastic clarity of this post. Your viewpoint carries the added impact of your many self-actualization explorations, your education, and your career experience, so I believe that your continued participation will bring many gifts to the men in our community, and the people in your life.
I look forward to hearing more from you as you continue to integrate this experience into all aspects of your life.
All the best,

Web,
Thank so much for your support on the weekend, I’m hoping to be able to give back as well at some point.
Take care,
Adam
Thanks for sharing your perspective on the NWTA. As a man on the other side of fifty and recently sixty, I support your willingness to ‘reinvent’ and renew your life. I am struck by how each man takes away something different from the weekend and then discovers the gift of giving the experience to others. Come to our elders “I” group sometime.
Ran,
Thanks so much for your support and I’ll definitely check out the elders group once I do the PIT. Also, if you have the time and desire, would love to have you as a guest blogger, either on one of the many subjects I post about here or on “what it means to be a man after fifty”.
